Meet Nick Brock
Five years ago, my wife and I walked our son to his first day of school. We didn't know then how much that short walk would change the way I thought about our schools, our community, and what it means to show up.
In Episode 1, I share more about who I am, the experiences that shaped me, and why I'm running for Grandville School Board.
EPISODE 2
Supporting Students
When my wife and I received a letter explaining that our son would receive some additional academic support, my first reaction was concern. By the time I finished reading it, that concern had turned into gratitude. His teacher had noticed where some additional support could help—and was already responding.
In Episode 2, I share what that experience taught me about supporting students—and why being known, having the right academic support, access to school supplies, and school meals can help students arrive ready to learn.
EPISODE 3
Partnering with Teachers
When my son first started school, I was focused on what his teachers would mean to him. Through my involvement at Central Elementary and conversations with educators across Grandville, I've come to better understand what teachers need to do their work well.
In Episode 3 of Showing Up, I share what I've learned about planning time, professional trust, and supporting the people who work with our students every day. I also reflect on receiving the endorsement of the Grandville Education Association and why I believe partnering with teachers is essential to keeping Grandville schools strong.

Inviting Families
In the fourth and final episode of Showing Up, I share what I've learned about bringing families together through my experiences at Central Elementary and conversations throughout Grandville. I reflect on why every family deserves to feel welcomed, heard, and connected, and how these experiences have shaped my approach to how I would serve on the School Board.
